About Wally Amos:Wally Amos was born on July 1, 1936, in the
sunny city of Tallahassee, Florida. He started out as just being a mail man for the William Morris Agency. He eventually worked his way up to being the first ever black talent agent. While he was an agent, Wally was in charge of the rock'n'roll department. He signed some different bands like Simon and Garfunkel, the Supremes, Marvin Gaye, and Patty LaBelle. In 1967 he decided to leave William Morris and go manage South African trumpeter, Hugh Masakela. When Wally decided to move him, his second wife, and his newborn to California, Hugh decided to drop Wally and go to a different agent. After that, Wally tried to stay in the entertainment business by baking cookies for "therapy." He would take his cookies to different parties and gatherings, where everyone would tell him how amazing they were and that he should start selling them. Finally, in 1974 he decided to take a risk and start a cookie company. The company became a huge hit, and the Famous Amos Cookie Company was born. |
Wally Today:Although today Wally doesn't own the cookie company, he still has a huge impact on it. One day Keebler, the new owner of Famous Amos, asked for Wally to come in and taste test the cookies. After he evaluated the cookies, he wasn't happy. He said that the cookies didn't taste the same as his original recipe. They told him that they had added more artificial ingredients to the recipe, so that they could make the cookies faster and cheaper. He told them to change the recipe, so they did replace a few artificial ingredients with some more natural ingredients. Today he focuses mostly on his muffin company, Uncle Wally's Muffins, which is a company dedicated to making healthy and delicious muffins. He also has another cookie company called Chip and Cookie that makes cookies with real, all-natural ingredients. Wally Amos currently has 4 kids; 3 boys and one girl. He, his daughter and his 3rd wife are currently living in Hawaii.
